Alternative Fuel Source - Hydrogen Do-It-Yourself Conversion
Now let it be said that I’m all about saving you money on gas, and getting more MPG. But isn’t running on an alternative fuel source such as hydrogen (derived from water!) and thus only using 50% of the gas you normally would the absolute best way possible to save on gasoline? Check out my [...]

Aggressive Driving vs Moderate Driving The Test
The guys over at edmunds recently did a big ole test on this. The average savings in gasoline was 31%, and it got as high as 37%. They claim that if you’re currently an aggressive driver changing that habit may be the single biggest gas saver for you. Read the full report.

Use Any Deals You Can Find
Many gas stations will provide you with a credit card that offers money off of your fill up. If you use a credit card anyways why not use one that will give you 5% off your next fuel purchase? In addition there are always other sorts of deals out there, as an example I shop [...]

Drive Smart
When approaching a hill if you think more acceleration will be required do it before you hit the hill, trying to accelerate on a hill burns a tremendous amount of gas. Keep your windows rolled up whenever possible, at 55 mph the drag from open windows reduces your mileage by 10%. If you own a [...]

Check Your Tires’ Air Pressure Regularly
At the current rate of $4.00 a gallon for gasoline a person who drives roughly 1,000 miles a month will save $576 annually if they assure their tires’ air pressure is kept where it should (not the recommended number from your owner’s manual, but the maximum tire pressure written on your tires). Every 2 psi [...]

Don’t Speed If You Can Help It
As I write this gas is over $4.00 per gallon, so this will most likely cost you even more. At the rate of $4.00 / gallon every 5 mph you drive over 60 mph you are wasting roughly $0.20 / gallon. So drive the speed limit, doing 85 mph is simply going to burn through [...]

Replace Your Air Filter Regularly
This is probably the most common and widely known tip out there, but for some reason most of us don’t do it! Change your air filter regularly. Change it, or at the very least check it every oil change (every 3,000 miles or 3 months). A dirty or clogged air filter can reduce your gas [...]

Keep Your Car In Good Shape
Your engine’s performance largely impacts your gas mileage. Get tune ups when you should! Things like bad timing, coroded distributor cap, or bad spark plugs all may lead to pistons not firing. This means you’re using gas without getting anything out of your car. So keep your car in good shape, and keep your gas [...]

Buy Your Gasoline At The Coolest Time Of Day
Gas isn’t always equal. As the day progresses and the earth warms, the tanks under a gas station start to feel the heat. This causes the gas to become less dense. If you purchase gasoline at cooler times (early morning) the gas is denser, and therefore you get better performance and more MPG from your [...]
