Driving at low RPMs in your car, in order to get more MPG, is one of the most popular hypermiling techniques. What many people fail to realize is that it is not harmful for your car’s engine, as long as you do it properly!
A lot of people actually can harm their engine because they don’t go about this correctly. They will let their RPMs fall so low that their engine starts rocking and sputtering. As long as you don’t reach this point you are fine and not harming your engine. Balance between fuel efficiency and car health or you really aren’t saving any money when those repairs start flowing in!
