Check Your Tires’ Air Pressure Regularly

At the current rate of $4.00 a gallon for gasoline a person who drives roughly 1,000 miles a month will save $576 annually if they assure their tires’ air pressure is kept where it should (not the recommended number from your owner’s manual, but the maximum tire pressure written on your tires). Every 2 psi below the maximum you are you will receive a 1% loss in fuel efficiency, for the average driver this comes out to about a 6% loss in fuel efficiency. Simply read it right off your tire and fill up if it’s low next time you’re at the gas station. And here’s another tip. Even though most gas stations charge $0.75 to fill up on air if you walk inside and talk to the attendant they can and will turn it on for free!
