Hypermiling - Aerodynamics for More MPG
Aerodynamics are one of the largest hinderances to gas savings. This is due, in large part, to cars being designed to look cool as opposed to be a more aerodynamic ride. With this in mind there are quite a few things that can be done to increase aerodynamics.
Just think about aerodynamics, if you are a little handy you can try to:
- Add covers over your wheel area, this can be seen on the Honda hybrid (picture to left).
- Remove you antenna and any roof racks on your car.
- Try to block your grill, this pushes air over your car and also helps to keep your engine warmer, which provides more fuel efficiency.
Really all that you need is to think about aerodynamics, all cars have their little mistakes. Just bear this in mind and go to town making your car more aerodynamic.
